okay so i just saw smth with another awful take and
im gonna TRY and be a little nicer here than in my last rant (which i had in the comments of a post) but im gonna be fucking crystal clear here when i say that i GODDAMN hate nickel ben and its for a reason
this isnt gonna be a cohesive piece of ALL the reasons i dislike this movie but im gonna try to explain the main ones
nickel ben couldve been something actually good but ended up coming out mediocre slop at best — the director put his heart and soul into that shit but it got fucked over by a bunch of other crap
we all already know neil keelson is a known abuser so im not gonna burst a blood vessel explaining my thoughts regarding his external affairs but anyway
since that’s not the topic rn
neil keelson is a bad actor in general bc he lacks heart or motivation to put the effort into understanding the characters he plays — I briefly mentioned in another infamous post that neil barged his way into the production and how that wasn’t the first time he’d done that and im gonna go into more depth about that
neil’s daddy bought his precious baby boy into the industry and propped up his carrier by purposely getting other actors pushed out of their positions through methods such as blackmail and intimidation
the situation with nickel ben was the same
but back to the main subject, i stated earlier that the reason why neil keelson sucks as an actor is bc he doesnt understand HOW to portray characters with different backgrounds than him — hes a man whose never faced adversity in his entire life and piggybacked off the success of others so it makes sense
killjoy was initially supposed to be more of an antihero character hardened by the grief of his father and the desecration of his homeland but in documents and reports made post-production some of the staff came out with allegations against the man as well as how the script had to be changed bc neil started throwing a tantrum about how complicated killjoy was
killjoy became a two-bit villain with daddy issues and little to no resemblance to his original character — boring and flavorless
i do agree that the climax of the story was the best bc it shows what the story wouldve been had they had enough time and budget
its a disappointing movie that could’ve been great but it was ruined
i hate it
also whoever compared the twist in nickel ben to Last Train to Antitem im going to rip out your spleen, please do not compare the 2 thxxx
